Getting Started

So, according to my schedule, training doesn't start for my first 5K until February 2nd, which is 8 weeks away from race day. But since I am so out of shape, I decided to start things off a little early. My goal is to start going to the gym at least 4 days a week, (as opposed to the once a week I have been) so when I finally do start training, I am ready to give it my all. This being my first race of any kind, I am very grateful to have a schedule follow. It will help me stay on track, which is something I need when it comes to working out. I've always wanted to participate in a marathon, or triathlon...but I had to be realistic and start with what I could handle. If you're anything like me, and want to get started from the very beginning, please let me know! It would be great to talk to others with a similar goal! Any questions you have, I probably have them too... so ask away and I will do the research and find out what we need to know. I'll be checking this on a regular basis and posting at least once a week. Any ideas or suggestions you have for me, or our other runners Cody and Jesse, feel free to let me know. I know I'm excited to start training for what I can only hope will be my first of many races!

  6. I just want to thank you all for following me through this! :) It's only week one and Stacey's right : it is hard, and tiring, and I am so sore! But so far, so good - it's worth it! (And soon I will be buff instead of sore I hope! haha.)And even if you're just starting with a 20 minute run/walk or doing it to keep warm it'll be worth it! And it can be fun too! :) So far, I'm enjoying it!

  14. Good job with keeping at it! :) The tough part for me is just getting to the gym for the most part! But it will be worth it! It makes easier when I see others succeeded with their goals! Like the fact that you are walking a mile every other day! :) Can't wait to see you either! When I am home we should walk outside together to keep at it!!

Hey! Sorry I it took so long to respond! I did't see your post! It's awesom that you are on here. It was great to see you that weekend, even though it was kind of short. And I am so glad that you finally got to meet Sean! My workout is coming along. I just have to stick to it. Saturday I ran my first 5K! It was actually fun, but tough for me, hehe. I am not all in shape like you. :) Doing all those sports. How is it all going? South Dakota is pretty good. Work is keeping me very busy, and so is this workout thing! Speaking of that I better go so I can fit a workout in before work! :) Talk to you soon I hope!
